Veterans will be honored with Memorial Benches near FPD's Headquarters.

Forest Preserve Veteran Memorial benches

Today the Cook County Forest Preserve Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a Resolution sponsored by Commissioner Luis Arroyo Jr. supporting the establishment of Veteran Memorials to honor those who fought and died in Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn.
The Forest Preserve Administration will install park bench memorials in special areas of the Forest Preserve, in hope to offer a quiet place to rest and reflect on the sacrifices these veterans and their families have made for our Country.
The memorials will be dedicated to each of the military operations post-9/11 that were meant to ensure our freedom and security.

These benches will be placed in a way and a place that will honor our soldiers and their commitment to our Country, I am very grateful to the Board of Commissioners, the Forest Preserve Administration and President Preckwinkle for working with my office on identifying the perfect placement and offering these quiet spots to our veterans and their families”, said Commissioner Arroyo.
A dedication ceremony will be scheduled in the near future, once the benches are constructed and installed.
